You know, itapos;s really sad how complacent weapos;ve gotten with taxes. Okay, this isnapos;t going to be full scale rant, but I just had to put in my two cents about the big million-dollar Wheel Of Fortune winner from last night. This woman from California won the big mil, against the ridiculous odds, and instantly became the showapos;s biggest winner of all time.
I was on the phone at the time. I go, "How much of that do you suppose sheapos;s got to pay in taxes." The person on the other line goes, "Oh, about half."
Thatapos;s disgusting. I realize itapos;s a game show, and itapos;s not as bad as, oh say, someone who worked all of his life only to give half of his money to the government, but still I gnash my teeth over stuff like that. Itapos;s never quite sat right with me that making a lot of money is something the government feels entitled to bill you for.
It seems like this is the sort of thing that should inspire people to throw some tea into a harbor. ...figuratively speaking.
